How to convert Excel to JSON
- Choose an .xlsx or .csv file.
- Pick all sheets or the first, and whether row 1 holds the headers.
- Press Convert to JSON, then copy or download it.
- Numbers stay numbers, dates become
2026-01-05, and formulas give their result. - Blank or repeated headers become "Column C" or "Name_2".
- Old .xls files: open and save as .xlsx first.

How do I convert an Excel file to JSON?
Upload the .xlsx or .csv file, choose whether row 1 holds the headers and which sheets to include, and press Convert to JSON. Copy the result or download it as a .json file.
How are dates and formulas converted?
Date cells become dates like 2026-01-05 (or a full timestamp if they include a time). Formulas give their calculated value, not the formula itself.
Can I convert every sheet in a workbook?
Yes. Choose All sheets to get an object with one entry per sheet name, or First sheet only to get a plain list of rows.
Does it work with old .xls files?
Not directly. Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice and save it as .xlsx, then convert that.
