Excel to CSV: frequently asked questions
How do I convert an Excel file to CSV?
Upload the .xlsx file, choose the first sheet or all sheets and a delimiter, and press Convert to CSV. Several sheets are downloaded together as a ZIP with one CSV each.
What is the UTF-8 BOM option?
It adds a small marker at the start of the file that tells Excel the CSV is UTF-8, so names in Hindi, Tamil and other scripts display correctly when you open it.
What is formula injection protection?
Text that starts with =, +, - or @ can run as a formula when a CSV is opened in Excel, which attackers abuse. With protection on, such text gets a leading apostrophe so it stays plain text. Numbers are never changed.
What happens to formulas and dates?
Formulas are saved as their calculated results, and dates as year-month-day, like 2026-01-05.
