How it's calculated
Discount = (₹1,299.00 − ₹899.00) ÷ ₹1,299.00 × 100 = 30.79%
- Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100).
- Discount % = (original − sale price) ÷ original × 100.
- Need the price before a discount, from the sale price? Use the Reverse Percentage Calculator.
Discount Calculator: frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it. For ₹2,499 at 30% off, you save ₹749.70 and pay ₹1,749.30.
Is 50% + extra 20% off the same as 70% off?
No. The extra 20% is taken off the already-reduced price, so it is 60% off in total. On ₹4,000 you pay ₹1,600, not ₹1,200.
How do I find the discount percentage from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide by the original price and multiply by 100. ₹1,299 reduced to ₹899 is a 30.79% discount. Use "Find the discount %" to do this.
Can I enter a flat discount in rupees?
Yes. Choose "₹ off" next to the discount, for offers like ₹200 off on ₹999. The calculator also shows what percentage that is.
Is GST included in the discounted price?
The calculator works on the price you enter. Shop prices in India usually include GST already; to add or remove GST, use the GST Calculator.
